Outside of its world-class service, conference facilities and dining, Saddlebrook Resort also offers its guests two 18-hole championship courses. The first course or, 'The Old Course' as locals describe it, is aptly named the Saddlebrook Course. This demanding and scenic layout was designed by Dean Refram and later modified by Arnold Palmer. The Saddlebrook design plots its course through the low lying swamps offering all golfers both challenging golf and picturesque scenery. The Saddlebrook Course is distinguished by its tight fairways and its water hazards that come into play on 17 of the 18 holes. This short but dangerous par 70 course offers golfers of all abilities three sets of tee ranges from 5100-6600 yards. On the Saddlebrook Course, the biggest premiums are paid on accurate tee shots.
The second course offered at Saddlebrook Resort was designed by Arnold Palmer and is aptly named The Palmer Course. The Palmer is noticeably different from the Saddlebrook Course both in design and aesthetics. The Arnold Palmer influence is easily noticed by the courses many elevated tee boxes and small, undulating greens. The Palmer Course weaves its way through the higher ground of the resort property and therefore offers more open, accessible fairways and a landscape design seen infrequently on the Saddlebrook Course, rolling hills. This par 71 design offers all golfers three tees to choose from, ranging from 5200-6500 yards. On the Palmer Course, there is a premium paid on accurate approach shots to small, well-guarded greens.
