Dr. Nick Hall

Nick HallNick Hall lectures around the globe offering unique insights through his motivational seminars and team building programs. This is because he understands the theoretical and practical sides of optimal performance. With a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and an honorary MD, Nick has authored more than 150 scientific articles and books exploring the links between emotions, performance, and health. His award winning research has been featured on the nationally televised programs 60-Minutes, NOVA, and Bill Moyer’s Emmy Award winning series, Healing and the Mind. But he also understands the practical side of peak performance.

Nick’s unique background has made him a true expert in dealing with change and performing under extreme pressure. In 1968, he became the first person to complete the grueling Baja 1000 off-road race on a bicycle. After working his way through college wrestling alligators and milking rattlesnakes, he was an intelligence operative for the US Government and led a National Geographic Society expedition in the West Indies to study mass-stranding behavior in whales. He still participates in week-long adventure races during which he tests and refines strategies for performing under adverse conditions. He understands what’s happening during stress and what to do about it.

His unique background and experiences are highly sought by a diverse cross-section of successful organizations and individuals seeking unique strategies for dealing with change and adversity. These include major corporations, the FBI-National Academy, and the Illbruck Challenge sailboat team which won the around the world Volvo Ocean Race. His private clients include elite athletes, medical professionals and other individuals seeking to better understand why they respond the way they do and the options they have.

Presentations

Dr. Nick Hall is available to present any program to your group as part of a breakfast, lunch or dinner or after you have finished, and he can design the program to be interactive or limit it to a talk. Listed below are samples of the types of programs he has presented to groups over the last few months and they are shown as samples of the range of subjects which can be covered…always keeping in mind your meeting’s theme and message.

Staying Sane and Healthy in a Changing World

This informative and entertaining program will make you realize you not only can survive, but can even thrive in the wake of change and adversity. You’ll also learn how to convert fear of failure into a positive force resulting in a more positive and optimistic outlook toward those things you once avoided.

The Food-Mood Connection

You are, indeed, what you eat. Learn what SWAT teams do to prepare for the worse – not on the training field, but in the dining room. Discover how the right mix of carbohydrates and protein can make you sleepy or keep you vigilant. And understand how both the amount and timing of meals can have a huge impact upon your performance in the corporate office as well as on the golf course.

Change Your Beliefs, Change Your Life

This innovative and entertaining program is marketed worldwide by the leader in motivational audio programs, Nightingale-Conant. It’s not the event you are responding to, it’s your beliefs-driven perception of events that is guiding your destiny. Take the Belief-Challenge Test and change for the better both your personal and professional life.

Stress for Success

You don’t have too much stress. You have too little recovery. But be careful of some of the popular relaxation-based strategies. Many of them can actually make things worse, not better. Learn a simple method to customize a recovery program to counter your unique stressors. Even better, you’ll discover a simple technique to recover on autopilot.

Each of these presentations is accredited for continuing education units for all the major health professions and most other groups as well. They are suitable as keynotes, after-dinner programs or weaved into a multi-day program integrated with team-building and other activities designed to illustrate key points.

Team Building

At Saddlebrook Resort, we offer a variety of skill-building and relationship-building programs that can fit just about any budget and any time frame. From a 10 minute energizer during a coffee break to a multi-day program woven into your agenda, anything is possible. You even have a choice of using one of several outdoor team-building venues, or use our portable equipment to stage the event in your meeting room. It’s your choice. In addition to customizing a program to best meet your specific needs, we will also create a theme if you wish. The theme can be based upon a popular book such as Who Moved My Cheese, or a television program such as Survivor. Just tell us what your short and long-term goals are and we’ll make sure you exceed them. Not sure? No problem. We’ll work with you to make sure your experience at Saddlebrook far exceeds your expectations. While all of our programs build camaraderie as well as understanding, some activities are better suited for certain objectives.

Skill Building Programs
Skill Building
The Executive Challenge Course begins with a change of environment. Certificates of achievement, gold watches, and clothes prescribed by a dress-for-success formula have no meaning in the exquisite 5 acre tract of woods which houses our low and high ropes initiatives. Participants are on an even playing field as they learn to discard unjustified beliefs, and trust in the judgment of others. It’s fun and educational. What’s more, it’s unforgettable. The exhilaration of shared success combined with the spirit of camaraderie leaves behind a memory that facilitates the implementation of the lessons long after the experience is over.

  • Foster a sense of teamwork
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Improve communication
  • Instill loyalty
  • Improve motivation
  • Build trust
  • Resolve conflict.

Relationship Building Programs In this high tech, wired world, people rarely have a chance to know the person they may deal with on a daily basis via the phone or internet. Therefore, building camaraderie within the team may be your primary goal. How about doing it as part of the Survivor Program which begins with team members having to construct a boat using cardboard and then race it with two crew members across the pool? Or one of many icebreakers that get people energized and familiar with each other. There’s also Build the Perfect Product, which can be combined with dinner or used to energize your group during a break. Contact us so we can explain how these, and many other activities, can be customized to make your meeting a memorable and rip-roaring success.
