Tournaments & Rankings

Saddlebrook Golf competes in a number of tournaments throughout the year. Our students participate in the 3 major local tours, including the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT), the Future Collegiate World Tour (FCWT), and the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT). Our developmental players participate in the Greater Tampa Junior Tour to gain tournament experience. The academy provides transportation and supervision for those tournaments listed on our schedule.

The HJGT, IJGT, and FCWT award points to their participants that count toward the junior golf scoreboard national rankings. Our players are strongly encouraged to compete as often as possible to improve their rankings and their ability to compete under pressure.

Special arrangements can be made for those students wishing to travel to additional tournaments. Students must receive approval from both their coach and the school in order to attend tournaments that are not on the Saddlebrook schedule. All arrangements for travel, accommodations, supervision etc. must be handled by the student and/or their parent or guardian.

High School Golf Team

Saddlebrook Prep also has a high school golf team that competes against other high schools in the area. Saddlebrook has won a number of FHSAA State, District and Regional Championships. By having a high school team we offer our players more tournament experience, an opportunity to play a number of different local courses, and encourage team work and camaraderie.

In the News

Monday, November 14, 2011, Lauren Riehle, a senior student-athlete at Saddlebrook Prep., signed her letter of intent to attend the University of Miami on a golf scholarship. The signing was witnessed by Lauren's parents, Greg and Diane Riehle, as well as Lauren's coach Mike Tali. Saddlebrook Preparatory school is located in the grounds of Saddlebrook Resort and concentrates on an intense academic program combined with golf and tennis.

2012 Saddlebrook Prep Golf Tournament Results

The Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT)

The Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT) conducted a junior golf tournament at Black Diamond in Lecanto, FL, southwest of Ocala. On Saturday, the participants played 18 holes of tournament golf on the Ranch Course. Saddlebrook Prep student-athletes did very well with 1st and 2nd place in both the boys and girls division 13-18.

Ryoto Furuya

Ryoto Furuya, a 13 year old Prep School Student from Japan, is already on the road to success. Just in this past year, Ryoto has achieved many victories, most recently, winning his first International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) tournament at Falcon's Fire this past weekend. He came out strong in the first round, firing a 75. On Sunday, Ryoto improved his first day score, shooting a one over par 73, to claim the championship.

This past weekend has not been Ryoto's only triumph. In fact, this is his 5th win this year. His hard work and effort has paid off as he has placed 1st at four Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT) tournaments within the past year. His previous victories include wins at Naples Beach Club, Black Diamond, Plantation Inn, and Feather Sound.

Ryoto is very proud of his recent accomplishments. His ultimate golf goal is to become a top five PGA Tour player and he hopes his hard work will lead him to achieve that goal. Congratulations to Ryoto and we hope to see his successes continue to grow throughout the years.

 

 

FCWT tournament at Feather Sound Country Club on Apr 30 - May 1, 2011

RESULTS: Ryoto Furuya claims 4th title of the season; 1st at 13-15 - May 1, 2011. Ryoto Furuya earned his 4th win of the season on Sunday, his first at the 13-15 level. Furuya of GUAM carded two rounds of 80 to edge out Claudio Garcia and Kyle Shealy by one stroke. View leaderboard

IJGT tournament on January 29 - 30 at TPC of Tampa

RESULTS: Congratulations to Lauren Riehle who won the IJGT tournament on January 29 - 30 at TPC of Tampa. Lauren shot 80-74 with the low round of the weekend to win the Girls 15-19 division. We would also like to congratulate Ryoto Furuya who placed 4th in the under 14 boys division.

 

 

 

 

FCWT tournament at Black Diamond

RESULTS: Furuya earns 2nd win of the season in boys 11-13 division. Congratulations to Ryoto Furuya who earned his 2nd title on January 16th in the Boys 11-13 division at Black Diamond. His final round of 77, the Low Round, included an eagle on the 14th hole. He also led in pars with 21.

FCWT at Naples Beach on November 13 – 14

RESULTS: 12 year old Ryoto Furuya won the 11-13 Boys Division at the FCWT Tournament held at Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club on November 13 – 14th. Ryoto shot an 86 – 78 to win his first tournament of the year.

Class A, Region 3 Tournament at Juliette Falls Golf and Country Club on October 25th

RESULTS: Congratulations to the Boy’s Golf Team for placing second at the Class A, Region 3 Tournament at Juliette Falls Golf and Country Club on October 25th. They will now compete in the State tournament at Silver Springs Country Club on November 2nd and 3rd. A team score of 319 tied Wesley Chapel High School but the Spartans lost in a playoff to place second in the tournament. Jordi Torrent and Adam Chowdhari led the Spartans with scores of 78, an outstanding showing by Justin Bell, 79 kept them in contention while Alex Bensahel rounded out the scores with an 84.

Congratulations to Lauren Riehle for placing second in the Class A, Region 3 Tournament at Juliette Falls Golf and Country Club on October 25th. Lauren shot a 77, which qualified her to advance to the State Tournament at the Ocala Golf Club on November 2nd and 3rd. CLICK HERE to see a slideshow.

Florida High School Athletic Association District 1A-9 Championship

RESULTS: Saddlebrook Prep repeated as District 1A-9 champions, shooting a team score of 323 at Black Diamond’s Ranch course. Saddlebrook had four solid scores from Jordi Torrent (79), Alex Bensahel (80), Adam Chowdhari (82), and Daniel Hori (82). The Spartans will move on to regions at Juliette Falls Country Club on Monday. Also, Lauren Riehle won Girls District 1A-9 as an individual with a score of 77. October 9 – 10, Hurricane Tour Event at Emerald Greens G&CC

RESULTS: Congratulations to Daniel Hori who placed 2nd in the 13-15 Boys Division of the HJGT Tampa Bay Junior Open at Emerald Greens on October 9th and 10th. Daniel led after a first round 75 and ended up taking 2nd place with a 75/81. CLICK HERE to see a slideshow.
