Tournaments & Rankings
Saddlebrook has a full tournament schedule of local USTA tournaments. Our players are strongly encouraged to compete as often as possible to improve their rankings and their ability to compete under pressure. The academy provides transportation and supervision for those tournaments listed on our schedule.
Special arrangements can be made for those students wishing to travel to additional tournaments including ITF and other regional USTA tournaments. Students must receive approval from both their coach at Saddlebrook and the school in order to attend tournaments in addition to the Saddlebrook schedule. All arrangements for travel, accommodations, supervision etc. must be handled by the student and/or their parent or guardian.
We encourage all students to become part of the USTA as they will not be eligible to play in any tournaments we attend without a membership. Our tournament coordinator is able to assist with membership and entry to tournaments but it is helpful if students arrive to school with a valid USTA membership and member number.

Tennis Plaza Cup in Miami held on January 16, 17 & 18, 2010
On January 16, 17 & 18, 2010 Katie Pollan played in the Tennis Plaza Cup in Miami which was a National event
with a draw of 32 players. Katie played with great determination and got the Semi Finals where she lost to
Alexandra Morozva. Katie has a shown tremendous improvement over the last couple of months and this has all
been due to her continued hard work both in her on court and off court training regime. Congratulations Katie .

DiDi Player of the Week for January 18, 2010
Didi Ong, who is currently in his third year at Saddlebrook, played in the boys 14’s sectionals at Cheval. Didi played a total of 7 matches of which included winning the first round of the front draw; however he lost in the second round of the front draw. Didi then fought back and won 5 straight matches in a row in the back draw to win the sectional boys 14s back draw. Also of special note is that Didi won the boys 14s designated on December 7th 2009 in Delray Beach,Florida. Didi is currently ranked top 30 in the State of Florida. Didi is a solid competitor with a very strong fighting spirit and he is working on developing his forehand as a weapon. Didi is also improving his first and second serve for more depth and consistency.. Didi’s coaches include Rick Crockett, Scott Brooke and Alvaro Betancur. Congratulations to Didi.
